The Railway Weekly is an independent publication. Our editorial decisions are based on the relevance, significance and interest of a story to our readers and are not determined by advertisers, sponsors, suppliers or other commercial relationships.
Advertising and sponsored content will be clearly distinguishable from editorial content. The existence of a commercial relationship will not guarantee editorial coverage or influence how a subject is reported.

We aim to base our reporting on reliable and authoritative information. Wherever practical, we seek information from primary sources such as government departments, railway organisations, infrastructure managers, operators, regulators, official reports, published data and direct statements.
IInformation from secondary sources may be used to identify or provide context for a story, but significant factual claims will, wherever reasonably possible, be verified against primary, authoritative or independently verifiable sources before publication.
We aim to distinguish clearly between confirmed facts, statements or claims made by others, and our own analysis or interpretation. Where information is uncertain, developing or disputed, we will make this clear rather than present it as established fact.
Sources used in preparing an edition may be identified within the publication or its accompanying Sources & Resources information where appropriate, allowing readers to explore the underlying material themselves.
3. Originality
The Railway Weekly produces original editorial content. We do not copy, reproduce or simply repackage reporting published by other news organisations or railway publications.
Other publications and media may help identify developments of potential interest, but wherever reasonably possible we will return to the underlying primary or authoritative sources, verify the relevant information and produce our own independent reporting, summary and analysis.
Where another publication has undertaken original reporting that is itself relevant to a story, we will attribute that work appropriately rather than present it as our own.
We respect copyright and intellectual property rights and will appropriately attribute quotations, data, images and other third-party material where they are used.
4. Analysis and Opinion
The Railway Weekly may provide analysis and informed commentary to help readers understand the significance and wider context of developments across Britain’s railway.
Where content represents analysis, interpretation or opinion rather than straightforward factual reporting, we will aim to make that distinction clear to the reader.
Analysis will be grounded in available evidence and relevant industry context. Where an issue is genuinely contested, we will seek to represent material perspectives fairly and avoid presenting disputed interpretations as established fact.
Contributors expressing personal views remain responsible for those views, and publication of a contribution does not necessarily mean that The Railway Weekly endorses every opinion expressed within it.
5. Corrections and Updates
The Railway Weekly aims to publish accurate information. However, if we identify a material factual error after publication, we will correct it as promptly and transparently as reasonably possible.
The way a correction is presented will depend on the nature and significance of the error. This may include correcting the online version of an article or publication and, where appropriate, adding a correction or clarification so readers can understand what has changed.
Minor typographical, formatting or grammatical changes that do not alter the meaning of the content may be corrected without a formal correction notice.

We prioritise primary and authoritative sources wherever reasonably possible. These may include government departments and agencies, the Office of Rail and Road, Network Rail, Transport for London, train and freight operators, infrastructure organisations, parliamentary material, official statistics, industry bodies and other relevant organisations.
The inclusion of a source or external resource does not imply endorsement by The Railway Weekly. Sources are provided to support transparency, verification and further reading.
Our editorial standards apply regardless of whether information originates from a public body, commercial organisation, industry participant or other source.
